Book Review:
City of Saints and Thieves is a book that I was definitely interested about as it came out in America before it was released in the UK. I was intrigued by the setting being set in Keyna which is something I have never read about it before. City of Saints and Thieves is a fantastic thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat waiting for the mystery to unfold.
When I first started to read the book, it kept my interest, I wanted to see where the story was going and I was definitely engaged in where the story was going to go. I really enjoyed seeing where the story progressed but I do feel like the plot twist that happened in this book was quite predictable and I feel like this did let it down but this only slightly hindered my experience of reading the story.
The setting of Kenya came with its own set of languages which were intertwined throughout the story. This was something that I really enjoyed and felt that it added to the experience of reading the book. The setting was also something that kept me interested and found that it definitely was a change in setting in comparison to other thrillers that I have read. I also like the different spaces that are seen in the book and overall this was something that I enjoyed throughout.
The characters were also something that I really liked. I think that they were quite flawed in their motivations but they were still characters that were likeable and that I really enjoyed reading about. I also enjoyed the character of Tina and her relationship with Michael. The writing of the novel was also nice and was easy to read.
Although I enjoyed the plot, something that is a negative is that this book is not own voices which could mean that this book may not be an accurate representation of life so this is something that I would like to take into account.
The Verdict:
City of Saints and Thieves is an interesting and engaging thriller which unique setting will keep you reading until the last page trying to uncover the mystery.
