  About Amy Hello, I'm Amy, an aspiring motorsports writer and former blogger.  If you dig deeper enough, you find some very old blog posts, as this started as a book blog, but that's really where I got my start in writing: book reviews, hot book topics and as well as the odd personal essay.  After leaving university, I left the book blog behind, but continued writing and going in the world of social media, writing film reviews and promoting queer cinema, but after a tragic event in my personal life, I quickly discovered Motorsports.  What started as a love for Formula 1, while finally watching the Formula 1 film, Rush, and discovering Formula 1 TikTok, this love soon expanded to everything Formula E, IndyCar, Formula 2, Formula 3, as well as F1 Academy.  I soon found the itch to write come back, with the fast-moving news of motorsport, to the drama, the competition, and the journey of drivers trying to find a race seat. Reading/Blogging and University

So I have just finished my first term or semester at university and it has definitely been an experience and one of firsts. But the weird thing was I did expect to have tons of free time. I thought that the twenty or so books that I bought with me would be read in the three months I was there and that my blog would maintain the state that it was before university, posting five or six posts a week and talking about books. But..

 I was wrong...

 I was completely and totally wrong. I found that university was harder than expected. It is not just about the learning new material about a subject that you love it was so much more. It was about making new friends and meeting new people and learning to be independent. I finally learnt how to do my own washing! But this and learning meant that I was getting a really long reading list and I had about three essays, this meant that I was reading loads so after a long day of reading the last thing that I wanted to do was pick up a book. Instead I would watch films that I had not seen and watch a lot of amazon prime including watching a lot of the TV series Skins because that TV show is really good. Although I make university sound like the worse thing in the world, it is not all bad. I did manage to read 10 books at university with the three essays due in and that I did have some free time in the start. Also I did manage to blog... OK it was for a week but it was still an attempt at blogging at university. 

 So I guess this is yet another life update post. I guess that I can also say that I am off for a month due to Christmas so I am going to see how many blog posts I can get before I go to university.

Characters Vs Plot: Which is more important?

Characters versus plot, I feel like is a question that is mentioned quite often in the book community but which one is better and does it even matter? To be honest, I don't know but I feel like it can be generally a personal preference.  I guess my first thought at this question would be, of course, it is the characters. I mean you can have a great plot but if your characters are weak, what are who are you going to care about? I feel like there are notable things to consider, however, as we would all say things like, "I would read anything by J.K. Rowling especially the Harry Potter characters even if they were doing nothing." That's because they are great characters and as an audience, most of us care about these characters so much but would we really do this? I don't think so, in fairness it would probably be boring because if they had no plot the characters wouldn't be themselves.  Characters need the plot to develop and grow and make them real charac...

Reviewing All Of The Books

Earlier this year, I decided that I would review all of the books that I read. For the most part, I definitely have but over the last couple of months it has definitely gone to the wayside but that is because I have been so busy. I wanted to do it because I annoyed myself that I reviewed books years after I read them and I often couldn't remember the plot. Trust me this is still the case, but I have kind of run out of books that I need to review this year which is weird for me. My backlog is getting lower and as I am not reading as much, I genuinely think I might run out. This has never happened before. This is of course quite nice because I think that it creates feelings that are much better than remembering a book from two years ago. Thinking about it at the moment does definitely make it easier as it goes into my head on a computer screen and less memory space is always a good idea.
