  About Amy Hello, I'm Amy, an aspiring motorsports writer and former blogger.  If you dig deeper enough, you find some very old blog posts, as this started as a book blog, but that's really where I got my start in writing: book reviews, hot book topics and as well as the odd personal essay.  After leaving university, I left the book blog behind, but continued writing and going in the world of social media, writing film reviews and promoting queer cinema, but after a tragic event in my personal life, I quickly discovered Motorsports.  What started as a love for Formula 1, while finally watching the Formula 1 film, Rush, and discovering Formula 1 TikTok, this love soon expanded to everything Formula E, IndyCar, Formula 2, Formula 3, as well as F1 Academy.  I soon found the itch to write come back, with the fast-moving news of motorsport, to the drama, the competition, and the journey of drivers trying to find a race seat. Book Review: The Masked Truth by Kelley Armstrong

Book Review Summary:

When I first saw that I could review a Kelly Armstrong book I jumped at the chance, having heard nothing but good things about her books in the past. This book was no expectation being a very good..

Plot:

The plot is definitely a fast paced thriller and there are plot twists on every page which I definitely did not see coming and it definitely keep me on my toes. The plot handles mental health in a really good way and it's clear Armstrong did her research when writing the book. 

Characters:

All the characters in the novel were definitely enjoyable and they were all really developed in the novel. It is fair to say that none of the characters were flat. Being the main characters, I definitely enjoyed the characters of Riley and Max as they were both very complex and what you saw on the surface is not what you get. I did enjoyed the fact that Riley was a diverse character as I do tend to read and find books with diversity in them and it was done well in the novel. Again Max was definitely a really complex character and this works very well in the novel. I did find in the beginning, Aaron was a quite annoying character but as the story progresses, you discover that he is more complex than the typical mean rich guy character, which I enjoyed.

Writing:

The book was very well written and the dual perspective worked very well in the book. Although I enjoyed it, Max's perspective was confusing at times as he talks about himself in third person but I definitely got the hang of it in the end. The perspectives although confusing at times, do tell the effects of the mental health issues the characters are facing, which Armstrong does very well.  The writing in the book is very good and knows how to keep you flipping over the next page.

The Verdict:

The Masked Truth is a well written thriller with enjoyable characters which leaves you wanting more to the last page.

With blogging and writing, I am normally quite good with coming up with ideas to talk about, but recently this has not been the case. Wreck This Journal #1

Since the summer I have had a Wreck This Journal after Penguin Platform introduced the "#wreckthissummer" competition. This allowed me to explore the activities in the Wreck This Journal and I found out that I really liked doing it. After the summer, I neglected the jo urnal but in the last couple of weeks I found that I have definitely been more excited to complete it. I thought that because I liked doing it that I would update my progress of the journal although it is a work in progress.
