About

About Amy Hello, I'm Amy, an aspiring motorsports writer and former blogger.  If you dig deeper enough, you find some very old blog posts, as this started as a book blog, but that's really where I got my start in writing: book reviews, hot book topics and as well as the odd personal essay.  After leaving university, I left the book blog behind, but continued writing and going in the world of social media, writing film reviews and promoting queer cinema, but after a tragic event in my personal life, I quickly discovered Motorsports.  What started as a love for Formula 1, while finally watching the Formula 1 film, Rush, and discovering Formula 1 TikTok, this love soon expanded to everything Formula E, IndyCar, Formula 2, Formula 3, as well as F1 Academy.  I soon found the itch to write come back, with the fast-moving news of motorsport, to the drama, the competition, and the journey of drivers trying to find a race seat. I found that it was the people and storie...

Mid Year Freakout Book Tag

So everyone seems to be doing this tag on Youtube this year so therefore I really wanted to do it and I've done it twice before but a long time ago. I am also finally doing this at the right time so this is good for me but I have already read over 100 books this year so there is a lot of choices to pick from!  This tag was created by ReadLikeWildFire (now Chami although the original video is no longer available for both) and  Ely Jayne . Let's get started... 1. Best book you've read this year so far? I actually have quite a few so it was hard to pick just one but one the basis that I want m ore people to read it, Deeplight by Frances Hardinge . This book is so special in the way that it deals with male characters and deafness as well as toxic friendships. I read it super quickly an highly recommend the audiobook and her writing is just amazing.  2. Best sequel you've read this year so far Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo or The Ask and The Answer by Pa...

Disfigured and Disability: My Story

So I don't really mention it online but I have a disability.  Due to complications at birth, I developed a type of cerebral palsy called left-sided hemiplegia, which is a weakness that affects the left side of my body, especially my left hand. I don't have it severely and my condition is a lot better than some people.  Because of this, I don't really mention that much. For much of my life, I have tried to hide my disability because I always compared myself to others. A lot of the time, I didn't identify with the label. My condition and I have a complicated relationship.  That is until I read Disfigured by Amanda Leduc.  OK. I'm not going to say that this book changed my life and the way that I explored my own disability but it illustrated so much of what I felt in my brain.  I have grown up not really having someone to look to up in terms of my disability. No one I knew had the same condition as me until I was 17 and one of my sister's friend had it. This is str...

*I am reviewing this book which I was gifted for free by Simon Pulse in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own. * Title: Girls With Sharp Sticks Author: Suzanne Young Publisher: Simon Pulse Source: Bought Myself/NetGalley  Rating: 5/5 stars ( Amazon | Goodreads ) Book Summary: The Girls of Innovations Academy are beautiful and well-behaved—it says so on their report cards. Under the watchful gaze of their Guardians, the all-girl boarding school offers an array of studies and activities, from “Growing a Beautiful and Prosperous Garden” to “Art Appreciation” and “Interior Design.” The girls learn to be the best society has to offer. Absent is the difficult math coursework, or the unnecessary sciences or current events. They are obedient young ladies, free from arrogance or defiance.
