About

About Amy Hello, I'm Amy, an aspiring motorsports writer and former blogger.  If you dig deeper enough, you find some very old blog posts, as this started as a book blog, but that's really where I got my start in writing: book reviews, hot book topics and as well as the odd personal essay.  After leaving university, I left the book blog behind, but continued writing and going in the world of social media, writing film reviews and promoting queer cinema, but after a tragic event in my personal life, I quickly discovered Motorsports.  What started as a love for Formula 1, while finally watching the Formula 1 film, Rush, and discovering Formula 1 TikTok, this love soon expanded to everything Formula E, IndyCar, Formula 2, Formula 3, as well as F1 Academy.  I soon found the itch to write come back, with the fast-moving news of motorsport, to the drama, the competition, and the journey of drivers trying to find a race seat. I found that it was the people and storie...

Book Review:

Having not read No Virgin by Anne Cassidy I was scared about picking up No Shame in the vain that I might not understand the whole plot, however, this was not a problem and No Shame was an honest and Frank book focusing on a rape trial.

First I have to say that this book does deal with a rape trail and therefore does feature written scenes focusing on this so a trigger warning is needed for rape and sexual abuse which are the main focuses of this book. These could be uncomfortable to read at times but they were needed in the book to explain the situation.

I do think that this book is really important especially in the world we are currently living in but I guess that I was really disappointed by the ending.  The ending does depict a reality that many people do go through on a daily basis but I would have liked this to be different to give people who go through this to believe that it is possible for criminals to be put to justice. This is something that is so needed right now.

The book, however, is really honest and although this is something that I have ever experienced before seemed realistic and to me, that was a good part of it.

I really did like the main protagonist and she was very honest and was an accurate interpretation of someone in her situation and I felt for her. She also had a future and her character did grow as the book progressed.

I did like an aspect of the end if the book and I feel like it was something that could happen as some people do not want to go forward.

The Verdict:

Although I do have done negative thoughts for no Shame it is an important read for the world we live in today and shod be read by many. I also would like to read No Virgin now.

Have you read No Shame? Do you want to?

See you soon,

Amy

Favourite Books of The Year (2019)

So it is officially the last day of 2019 and where has the year gone. Seriously. Anyway with this comes my favourite books of the year and I have read 135 but here are just my top 11 so let's get started... Heretics Anonymous by Katie Henry I think this one was so hyped up that it definitely grew on me. I really loved the characters and loved reading about the exploration into religion something that really isn't explored a lot in YA. It made me think so much so I just loved it and can't wait to read more from her! The Paper & Hearts Society by Lucy Powrie As someone who has taken part in #UKYAChat for the longest time, I was so excited when Lucy announced this book and was so happy that I loved it. This book, whilst dealing with some heavy subjects which it does well, is so fun and I loved every moment I spend reading it. The characters were so lovable and I can't wait to read the second book in the series. I mean who doesn't love a bookish book. A...

Book Review: Graphic Novels #2

* I have received an eARCs of these graphic novels in exchange for an honest review via netgalley. This in no way affects my review * Graphic Novel Review #1: Title:  Faith #1, #2 Author: Jody Houser Source:  NetGalley  Publisher:  Valiant Comics Rating:  4/5 stars Book Review:           When I first heard about this comic book series, I knew that it was one that I needed to read because the fact that it was an overweight female superhero. Both these concepts are rare, I mean the female superhero is on the rise but I don't know about you, I have never read about an overweight superhero and I commend the writers and illustrators of the comic for including it in the story. Even more condemned however is the fact that her weight is not mentioned and does not hinder her in any way to complete her missions. Although I condemn this highly, I do think that her outfit was somewhat unflattering in the illustrations...
