  About Amy Hello, I'm Amy, an aspiring motorsports writer and former blogger.  If you dig deeper enough, you find some very old blog posts, as this started as a book blog, but that's really where I got my start in writing: book reviews, hot book topics and as well as the odd personal essay.  After leaving university, I left the book blog behind, but continued writing and going in the world of social media, writing film reviews and promoting queer cinema, but after a tragic event in my personal life, I quickly discovered Motorsports.  What started as a love for Formula 1, while finally watching the Formula 1 film, Rush, and discovering Formula 1 TikTok, this love soon expanded to everything Formula E, IndyCar, Formula 2, Formula 3, as well as F1 Academy.  I soon found the itch to write come back, with the fast-moving news of motorsport, to the drama, the competition, and the journey of drivers trying to find a race seat. Readathon Wrap Up: #SundayYAthon

So over the last week, I have taken part in two readathons which ran from the 28th August to 1st September which is #SundayYAthon. The SundayYAthon had three challenges which can be picked from the following picture. My TBR was posted on Twitter so you can see that here: 

 So let's get started to see my progress...

 I ended up reading 4 books as part of the readathon but only three of those books were on my TBR.
The first book that I finished was A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin which counted for the free choice feature of the readathon. I had already read over 400 pages before the readathon but I decided that I really wanted to finish it so thus the first book was completed. I really enjoyed A Game of Thrones although it was a little bit out of my comfort zone and I liked it so much that I am currently reading A Clash of Kings.  








After I finished A Game of Thrones, I moved on to Monstress which is a graphic novel set in 1900s China with a POC main protagonist which counted as a diverse read. I also really enjoyed this one, giving it 4 stars and for a fantasy graphic novel, I think the world building was done well. To be honest, I am going to love any book that has talking cats anyway so...









The third book that I read was Wing Jones by Katherine Webber which has been a book that was been highly praised since its release in January which is why it completed by Recommended Read category. Again I really enjoyed Wing Jones especially seeing her character develop as a person and the description of all the food in the book that I just want to eat. All of the characters were also well developed and just so likeable so like everyone else recommended me to read Wing Jones, I will now recommend it to you. 





The fourth and final book that I completed for the readathon was Moonrise by Sarah Crossan which comes out this week on Thursday. Moonrise is an emotional story about Jo whose brother is on death row in America which as you can guess makes a gripping story and you should see a review of this book soon on my blog.

Characters Vs Plot: Which is more important?

Characters versus plot, I feel like is a question that is mentioned quite often in the book community but which one is better and does it even matter? To be honest, I don't know but I feel like it can be generally a personal preference.  I guess my first thought at this question would be, of course, it is the characters. I mean you can have a great plot but if your characters are weak, what are who are you going to care about? I feel like there are notable things to consider, however, as we would all say things like, "I would read anything by J.K. Rowling especially the Harry Potter characters even if they were doing nothing." That's because they are great characters and as an audience, most of us care about these characters so much but would we really do this? I don't think so, in fairness it would probably be boring because if they had no plot the characters wouldn't be themselves.  Characters need the plot to develop and grow and make them real charac...

Popsugar Reading Challenge 2017

So for the last two years, I have completed the Popsugar Reading Challenge to diversify my reading, too often push me out of my comfort zone. Popsugar Reading Challenge 2019 Wrap Up

So for the last couple of years, I have been doing the Popsugar Reading Challenge and 2019 is no different. I think that this year is more challenging as the prompts are a little weird but I am always up for a challenge. So let's see the prompts and see how many I completed.
