About

About Amy Hello, I'm Amy, an aspiring motorsports writer and former blogger.  If you dig deeper enough, you find some very old blog posts, as this started as a book blog, but that's really where I got my start in writing: book reviews, hot book topics and as well as the odd personal essay.  After leaving university, I left the book blog behind, but continued writing and going in the world of social media, writing film reviews and promoting queer cinema, but after a tragic event in my personal life, I quickly discovered Motorsports.  What started as a love for Formula 1, while finally watching the Formula 1 film, Rush, and discovering Formula 1 TikTok, this love soon expanded to everything Formula E, IndyCar, Formula 2, Formula 3, as well as F1 Academy.  I soon found the itch to write come back, with the fast-moving news of motorsport, to the drama, the competition, and the journey of drivers trying to find a race seat. I found that it was the people and storie...

Cramathon TBR- Dec 2016

So it's been a while, hasn't it. University has just been crazy and I have not really had time to read or blog but I now off for Christmas. Although I have a few deadlines and Harry Potter society stuff to do, I hope that I will be posting on here again soon. Anyway, I thought that I would post a Cramathon TBR which is a readathon hosted by WhittyNovels and Aprililus Maximus. The readathon starts on 16th December at 12 am and finished at 12 am on the 23rd December with the aim to read as much as possible to complete your Goodreads goal. I have already completed my Goodreads goal but need to get back into reading so thought this would be the way to do it. There are challenges that you need to complete and I am going to talk about them now. So let's get started...

Challenges

1. Read a book under 200 pages

Marly's GhostMarly's Ghost by David Levithan- I think that it is around 160 pages so definitely fits this theme and it is almost a retelling of a Christmas Carol so seems like a perfect fit.

2. Read 2 books in 24 hours

Hopefully, I can read two of these books in 24 hours. It seems doable.

3. Read a book set in a different country than where you live

You Know Me WellYou Know Me Well by David Levithan and Nina LaCour- It is set in America, I live in England. I am also excited to read this so...

4. Read a book you've been putting off/have been meaning to read forever

To Kill a Mockingbird (To Kill a Mockingbird #1)To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee- I have wanted to read this book since I bought it last year and I pretty sure I said that I wanted to finish it this year. As you can see it has not happened yet but there is still time.

5. Read a book with pictures

Challenger DeepI am currently reading Challenger Deep by Neal Shusterman which is quite a difficult read as I do relate to some aspects of the story but it features illustrations throughout so hopefully I can finish it during the week.

6. Read a graphic novel

I am going to be reading 2 single issues instead and they are Great Lake Avengers #2 and Champions #3 so I hope they count.

7. Read 7 books

If I read all the books on my TBR, that is 6 books and if I count the books that I am currently reading then that is 7 books so I would have completed this challenge.

OK, so that is my Cramathon TBR. Are you planning on joining the readathon? Do you want to read any books mentioned in this post? Leave them in the comments below.

See you soon,

Amy

Dealing with Embarrassing Moments

Having anxiety doesn't lend itself to embarrassing moments. Instead of saying fuck it and moving on, our mind decides to let the memories stay and linger. Replaying themselves again. And again. And again until we start to go a little crazy. Today has been that day. First there was the answer that I couldn't give in class. Then the fact that I accidentally fell into a couple of people on the tube. At rush hour. There have been some good things. I met Hank Green and didn't make a complete fool of myself and this was because a nice guy from Waterstones gave me the correct raffle ticket. (THANK YOU!) I mean I look terrified in the pictures but still... Anyway back to these embarrassing moments. I know and my head knows that I should forget them. That the moment should become a distant memory that I laugh about but instead I hear the echoes of laughter and shock and embarrassment plaguing my existence. My waking thoughts. I want their to a day. A good day where I can brush t...

Mid Year Freakout Book Tag

So everyone seems to be doing this tag on Youtube this year so therefore I really wanted to do it and I've done it twice before but a long time ago. I am also finally doing this at the right time so this is good for me but I have already read over 100 books this year so there is a lot of choices to pick from!  This tag was created by ReadLikeWildFire (now Chami although the original video is no longer available for both) and  Ely Jayne . Let's get started... 1. Best book you've read this year so far? I actually have quite a few so it was hard to pick just one but one the basis that I want m ore people to read it, Deeplight by Frances Hardinge . This book is so special in the way that it deals with male characters and deafness as well as toxic friendships. I read it super quickly an highly recommend the audiobook and her writing is just amazing.  2. Best sequel you've read this year so far Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo or The Ask and The Answer by Pa...
