About

About Amy Hello, I'm Amy, an aspiring motorsports writer and former blogger.  If you dig deeper enough, you find some very old blog posts, as this started as a book blog, but that's really where I got my start in writing: book reviews, hot book topics and as well as the odd personal essay.  After leaving university, I left the book blog behind, but continued writing and going in the world of social media, writing film reviews and promoting queer cinema, but after a tragic event in my personal life, I quickly discovered Motorsports.  What started as a love for Formula 1, while finally watching the Formula 1 film, Rush, and discovering Formula 1 TikTok, this love soon expanded to everything Formula E, IndyCar, Formula 2, Formula 3, as well as F1 Academy.  I soon found the itch to write come back, with the fast-moving news of motorsport, to the drama, the competition, and the journey of drivers trying to find a race seat. I found that it was the people and storie...

Recent Rambles: Writers Block

So I have an explanation, I guess after the massive change on my blog, I thought that I would be full of ideas and would want to write but it has been something I have become scared of. Writing I mean...

I mean as I go to write this post I want to think of literally any explanation to make me stop writing. Do I need a snack? Do I need a drink? Can I do anything apart from this blog post? Let's face it I have done that, it has been over a month since my last blog post and I could have done it but I have been stuck. I did not want to write anything, it is like my brain can not get the words out it the way that I want them to, I become scared that anything I was writing was not good enough. Even something as simple as my manifesto for Harry Potter society became a chore and I ended up procrastinating for a long time and I know that it was not anything like I wanted it to be. Writing for fun became a chore because of the academics that I have been writing for literally the last month.

It was not only the fact I feel like writing for fun was hard, ideas were hard too. I mean this idea in itself is not that good, I mean it is a life update post but I could do so much more with this but I have limited ideas. I mean I could do tags and stuff but I want to do more discussions but I feel like I have nothing to discuss. I don't know.

People say that the only thing that cures things like this is time but I want to start posting again, I have come to far to stop now! Just forgive me if my posts are a bit dodgy over the next couple of weeks because I might not have that many ideas.

I hope you stick with me and if you survived this ramble because I do not think even I did.

Also, if you have any ideas for topics that you would like me to discuss, leave them in the comments below.

See you soon,

Amy

I survived writing the post!

Dealing with Embarrassing Moments

Having anxiety doesn't lend itself to embarrassing moments. Instead of saying fuck it and moving on, our mind decides to let the memories stay and linger. Replaying themselves again. And again. And again until we start to go a little crazy. Today has been that day. First there was the answer that I couldn't give in class. Then the fact that I accidentally fell into a couple of people on the tube. At rush hour. There have been some good things. I met Hank Green and didn't make a complete fool of myself and this was because a nice guy from Waterstones gave me the correct raffle ticket. (THANK YOU!) I mean I look terrified in the pictures but still... Anyway back to these embarrassing moments. I know and my head knows that I should forget them. That the moment should become a distant memory that I laugh about but instead I hear the echoes of laughter and shock and embarrassment plaguing my existence. My waking thoughts. I want their to a day. A good day where I can brush t...

Characters Vs Plot: Which is more important?

Characters versus plot, I feel like is a question that is mentioned quite often in the book community but which one is better and does it even matter? To be honest, I don't know but I feel like it can be generally a personal preference.  I guess my first thought at this question would be, of course, it is the characters. I mean you can have a great plot but if your characters are weak, what are who are you going to care about? I feel like there are notable things to consider, however, as we would all say things like, "I would read anything by J.K. Rowling especially the Harry Potter characters even if they were doing nothing." That's because they are great characters and as an audience, most of us care about these characters so much but would we really do this? I don't think so, in fairness it would probably be boring because if they had no plot the characters wouldn't be themselves.  Characters need the plot to develop and grow and make them real charac...
