Wreck This Journal #1

Since the summer I have had a Wreck This Journal after Penguin Platform introduced the "#wreckthissummer" competition. This allowed me to explore the activities in the Wreck This Journal and I found out that I really liked doing it. After the summer, I neglected the jo
urnal but in the last couple of weeks I found that I have definitely been more excited to complete it. I thought that because I liked doing it that I would update my progress of the journal although it is a work in progress. If you do not like this post, please let me know in the comments below and I know not to do another one again. So let's get started...

The Cover:

Being a journal, I thought that I would add album covers because they give a sense of the music that I like. Also I thought it would really tumblr and I like that...

The inside page:

I think one of the tasks was to do something with this page so I tried to made it like the outside cover by the line paper and sticking the wreck this journal writing on it. People look shocked when they see this but you are meant to wreck it. You can also see I coloured the page behind it orange and pink and I made my own acknowledgements.

Instructions Page:

Although this is not a real page, I just tried to make this page fun by adding colour. I have to admit that my colouring is not the best on this page but it was the first one I did.

Add your own pages

The materials page is slightly incomplete as I haven't added a picture or doodle to each word but I like the other page with the adding your own numbers. Mine is not as artsy as other people's but it is quite simple so... I also remember the numbers taking so long to do and I am pretty sure that I did some of them wrong.

Crack the Spine and Leave This Page Blank On Purpose

The crack the spine page represents the reader's problems with cracking the spine and the bad things about it. The leave this page blank on purpose and I just wanted to put something on the page.

Pour, Spill, Drip, Spit, Fling your coffee here

On the left I tried to incorporate the coffee with the phrase "She likes cold coffee in the morning" which is from an Ed Sheeran song. This is also on coffee-soaked paper. This is also followed by a mug where the coffee has been used and a cup stain on the paper. The right page is random being purple paint and another cup of coffee.

Poke Holes In This Pages Using A Pencil

The balloons are where the holes were made but I did want to do something different so this is what came from it.

Draw Fat Lines and Thin

So the lines are drawn in order from thinnest to thickest however I have the wave in the middle that breaks this and I like it. The page on the left is one of my favourite quotes from Harry Potter and I really like that page.

This page is for fingerprints

As you can see I made a rainbow from my fingerprints and it did take a long time however I did get the result that I wanted so it was worth it.

Colour This Entire Page

I didn't really know what to do on this page so I just tried to fling paints at the page with a toothbrush. I like how the effects happened. The words on the page are lyrics from Colors by Halsey.

Press Leaves and other found things

The way this page happened was quite spontaneous as I already had the pressed flower- it's a long story- and I was thinking about the All The Bright Places and I knew there was a flower on the cover so this happened. I did enjoy All The Bright Places when I read it.

Write One Word Over and Over

This is one of my favourite pages with the word "always" being written all over and the deathly hallows being made in the middle.

Cover this page using only office supplies

I used sticky notes and sticky tabs to create a flower and it's background. Not sure if they are office supplies but they are school supplies so....

Use this an a test page

This page is literally just testing pens....

Make a Sudden, Destructive Movement with the Journal

So with this page of the journal I ripped it and made a hole with a bullet hole and there covered them with plasters/band-aids. This then meant that I had lyrics from Bad Blood by Taylor Swift.

Have you done the Wreck This Journal? What did you think of my efforts? Leave them in the comments below.

See you soon,

Amy

My Reading Tastes Are Changing

For the last couple of years, I feel like this has become a reoccurring blog post but I want to talk about it now because I think something is actually happening in my reading life. My reading tastes are changing. I've felt it for a while. I haven't really been drawn to YA titles that much anymore especially contemporary. Being busy in my time, I have been really selective in the books that I pick up so for me: the shorter, the better. And when picking up shorter books, the less likely they are to be YA. The more I am exposed to more books, the more I get to read books that I connect to Some of the books that I have picked up have really surprised me because of how much I ended up enjoying them. I think as I grow older, I am looking for different stories, different experiences and different perspectives. These don't just fit the YA mould. I also have been really into different genres like horror and the occasional thriller which have not read from before and I'm interes

Book Review: The Great Godden by Meg Rossoff

   * I am reviewing this book which I was gifted for free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own. * Title: The Great Godden  Author: Meg Rossoff Publisher: Bloomsbury  Source: NetGalley ( Bookshop UK |  Hive |  Goodreads  |  Storygraph ) Book Summary: Everyone talks about falling in love like it’s the most miraculous, life-changing thing in the world. Something happens, they say, and you know … That’s what happened when I met Kit Godden. I looked into his eyes and I knew. Only everyone else knew too. Everyone else felt exactly the same way. This is the story of one family, one dreamy summer – the summer when everything changes. In a holiday house by the sea, our watchful narrator sees everything, including many things they shouldn’t, as their brother and sisters, parents and older cousins fill hot days with wine and games and planning a wedding. Enter two brothers – irresistible, charming, languidly sexy Kit and surly, silent Hugo. Suddenly there’s

Popsugar Reading Challenge 2021 Wrap Up

Every year since 2015, I have had the Popsugar Reading Challenge to diversify my reading. Over the course of the last year, I would like to think that I have done this and looking at did a good job considering I have been so busy over the last year. Even though I did actually have a plan of a book to read for almost all of the prompts, I did just wing it for the latter half of the year. This was because I was just reading what I wanted to and because I was not really reading at all.  So let's see what I read this year... A book that’s published in 2021    Book I Want To Read: Gut Feelings by C. G. Moore Book I Actually Read: Gut Feelings by C.G. Moore An Afrofuturist book Book I Want To Read: The City We Became by N.
