Winger (Winger, #1)

Sunkissed by Jenny Maclachlan

Sunkissed (Ladybirds, #3)

Jandy Nelson

I'll Give You the Sun

The Sky Is Everywhere

Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon

Everything, Everything

Stereotypical Freaks by Howard Shapiro

The Stereotypical Freaks (Forever Friends, #1)

Number 10: The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon

The Bone Season (The Bone Season, #1)I really liked this book. The characters in this book were amazing and really enjoyable. The plot was really fast-paced and entertaining and it was really well-written. I need to read the Mime Order soon and I mean soon.

Number 9: Cress by Marissa Meyer

Cress (The Lunar Chronicles, #3)I love the Lunar Chronicles series so when I read this early this year, I knew that it would make my favourites. I was well written and has characters that are really shippable and I am currently reading Winter and I know that it will make this list as well.

Number 8: North of Porter by Kirkland Ciccone

North of PorterThis was my most recent read and it still made my favourites. It was an amazing book which was part of the #WeirdYA that Kirkland Ciccone has created and this makes it highly enjoyable and just a really great book.

Number 7: The Rest of Us Just Live Here by Patrick Ness

The Rest of Us Just Live HereSo this year I read other Patrick Ness books and I enjoyed them but for some reason this one was my favourite. This book was really good, it goes against the chosen one trope which is something new and exciting which did actually work really well in the novel and the plot itself was really engaging and dealt with the mental illness of characters in a really good way. Patrick Ness with this book suggests that even people with normal lives can be extraordinary.

Number 6: A Work In Progress by Connor Franta

A Work in ProgressI am still so confused why I love this book so much, but I guess I just do. This is the only Youtuber book that made this list even though I have read 2 other books this year too. This one was just Connor in a nutshell and was a highly addictive read.

Number 5: Alex and Ada by Jonathan Luna and Sarah Vaughn

Alex + Ada, Vol. 12015 was the year when I started to read more and more comic books and one of my favourites was that of Alex and Ada. Alex and Ada was a highly enjoyable plot and really nice artwork and I am going to read volume 3 of this series soon because I really loved it.

Number 4: Nimona by Noelle Stevenson

NimonaYet another graphic novel that I really loved this year. Nimona was on the long side but this did not make it any less enjoyable, in fact it added to the experience as it meant that the large fantasy world got to be explored even more and for a graphic novel I loved I did not want to leave the world. The characters were also really enjoyable and the artwork was so beautiful. Nimona is a really great graphic novel and is good for anyone who is trying to get into graphic novels.

Number 3: Night Owls by Jenn Bennett

The Anatomical Shape of a HeartI picked this up at YALC thinking that it would be just another contemporary that I would read this year. Boy was I wrong! This book was so,so much more. It was a romance story that did not have instalove and the romance was slow burning. It had likable characters which I fell in love with. It was so addicting that I ended up walking home while reading this book because I wanted to finish it badly. Just so good!!!

Number 2: The Death House by Sarah Pinborough

The Death HouseWhen reading this I did not expect this to be in my favourite books of the year. I thought it was a horror, it is not a horror... It was so much more. This is a book that even though I read and finished it in the summer, it is one that I will never forget. So good!!!!

Number 1: Holly Bourne

Am I Normal Yet? (The Normal Series, #1)The Manifesto on How to be InterestingI know, I know. This is not a book, this is an author, but I cannot pick between the two books of Holly Bourne that I read this year. Both Am I Normal Yet? and the Manifesto of How to be Interesting are my favourite books of this year. They are both so poignant in the way that they deal with teenage life and mental health. They are just so good, they are definitely firm favourites of all time in my book.

What are you top ten favourite books this year?

See you soon,

Amy

My Reading Tastes Are Changing

For the last couple of years, I feel like this has become a reoccurring blog post but I want to talk about it now because I think something is actually happening in my reading life. My reading tastes are changing. I've felt it for a while. I haven't really been drawn to YA titles that much anymore especially contemporary. Being busy in my time, I have been really selective in the books that I pick up so for me: the shorter, the better. And when picking up shorter books, the less likely they are to be YA. The more I am exposed to more books, the more I get to read books that I connect to Some of the books that I have picked up have really surprised me because of how much I ended up enjoying them. I think as I grow older, I am looking for different stories, different experiences and different perspectives. These don't just fit the YA mould. I also have been really into different genres like horror and the occasional thriller which have not read from before and I'm interes

Book Review: The Great Godden by Meg Rossoff

   * I am reviewing this book which I was gifted for free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own. * Title: The Great Godden  Author: Meg Rossoff Publisher: Bloomsbury  Source: NetGalley ( Bookshop UK |  Hive |  Goodreads  |  Storygraph ) Book Summary: Everyone talks about falling in love like it’s the most miraculous, life-changing thing in the world. Something happens, they say, and you know … That’s what happened when I met Kit Godden. I looked into his eyes and I knew. Only everyone else knew too. Everyone else felt exactly the same way. This is the story of one family, one dreamy summer – the summer when everything changes. In a holiday house by the sea, our watchful narrator sees everything, including many things they shouldn’t, as their brother and sisters, parents and older cousins fill hot days with wine and games and planning a wedding. Enter two brothers – irresistible, charming, languidly sexy Kit and surly, silent Hugo. Suddenly there’s

Popsugar Reading Challenge 2021 Wrap Up

Every year since 2015, I have had the Popsugar Reading Challenge to diversify my reading. Over the course of the last year, I would like to think that I have done this and looking at did a good job considering I have been so busy over the last year. Even though I did actually have a plan of a book to read for almost all of the prompts, I did just wing it for the latter half of the year. This was because I was just reading what I wanted to and because I was not really reading at all.  So let's see what I read this year... A book that’s published in 2021    Book I Want To Read: Gut Feelings by C. G. Moore Book I Actually Read: Gut Feelings by C.G. Moore An Afrofuturist book Book I Want To Read: The City We Became by N.
