  About Amy Hello, I'm Amy, an aspiring motorsports writer and former blogger.  If you dig deeper enough, you find some very old blog posts, as this started as a book blog, but that's really where I got my start in writing: book reviews, hot book topics and as well as the odd personal essay.  After leaving university, I left the book blog behind, but continued writing and going in the world of social media, writing film reviews and promoting queer cinema, but after a tragic event in my personal life, I quickly discovered Motorsports.  What started as a love for Formula 1, while finally watching the Formula 1 film, Rush, and discovering Formula 1 TikTok, this love soon expanded to everything Formula E, IndyCar, Formula 2, Formula 3, as well as F1 Academy.  I soon found the itch to write come back, with the fast-moving news of motorsport, to the drama, the competition, and the journey of drivers trying to find a race seat. Reading/Blogging and University

So I have just finished my first term or semester at university and it has definitely been an experience and one of firsts. But the weird thing was I did expect to have tons of free time. I thought that the twenty or so books that I bought with me would be read in the three months I was there and that my blog would maintain the state that it was before university, posting five or six posts a week and talking about books. But..

 I was wrong...

 I was completely and totally wrong. I found that university was harder than expected. It is not just about the learning new material about a subject that you love it was so much more. It was about making new friends and meeting new people and learning to be independent. I finally learnt how to do my own washing! But this and learning meant that I was getting a really long reading list and I had about three essays, this meant that I was reading loads so after a long day of reading the last thing that I wanted to do was pick up a book. Instead I would watch films that I had not seen and watch a lot of amazon prime including watching a lot of the TV series Skins because that TV show is really good. Although I make university sound like the worse thing in the world, it is not all bad. I did manage to read 10 books at university with the three essays due in and that I did have some free time in the start. Also I did manage to blog... OK it was for a week but it was still an attempt at blogging at university. 

 So I guess this is yet another life update post. I guess that I can also say that I am off for a month due to Christmas so I am going to see how many blog posts I can get before I go to university.

A lot can change in 10 years!: YA and 10 Year anniversaries

At 11 years old, I found my two books that would change my reading life forever. Those books were Twilight and Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging. This was 10 years ago.  To put that in perspective that's almost half my life as I am now 21.  I feel like the reason that I wanted to write this post is due to all the anniversaries surrounding books that have come out in the last year and to see how much has changed. This year marks the anniversary of the Twilight film which is quite weird to think about because it doesn't feel like that at all. I still think of 11 years old me in that cinema watching the film but I now that a lot has changed in my life since then. It also marks the tenth anniversary of The Hunger Games book being published and Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging (the film) and honestly, I don't know why this scares me as much as it does.
