Reading/Blogging and University

So I have just finished my first term or semester at university and it has definitely been an experience and one of firsts. But the weird thing was I did expect to have tons of free time. I thought that the twenty or so books that I bought with me would be read in the three months I was there and that my blog would maintain the state that it was before university, posting five or six posts a week and talking about books. But..

I was wrong...

I was completely and totally wrong. I found that university was harder than expected. It is not just about the learning new material about a subject that you love it was so much more. It was about making new friends and meeting new people and learning to be independent. I finally learnt how to do my own washing! But this and learning meant that I was getting a really long reading list and I had about three essays, this meant that I was reading loads so after a long day of reading the last thing that I wanted to do was pick up a book. Instead I would watch films that I had not seen and watch a lot of amazon prime including watching a lot of the TV series Skins because that TV show is really good. Although I make university sound like the worse thing in the world, it is not all bad. I did manage to read 10 books at university with the three essays due in and that I did have some free time in the start. Also I did manage to blog... OK it was for a week but it was still an attempt at blogging at university.

So I guess this is yet another life update post. I guess that I can also say that I am off for a month due to Christmas so I am going to see how many blog posts I can get before I go to university.

More blog posts soon...

See you soon,

Amy

Favourite Graphic Novels & Manga of 2021

As I have read a lot of books this year, I always want to give graphic novels and manga their own celebration as they often get overlooked and do make up a lot of my reading. I also find that even though I read a lot of them, it takes a lot to convince me and make it a new favourite. So here are my best... Heartstopper Volume 4 by Alice Oseman  Like everyone on the internet, I too am a massive Heartstopper fan and Volume 4 is no different. I love the relationship of Nick and Charlie and the side characters also make the series. This one also explores the way that mental health can impact romance and it still does justice to the story and does not fall into cliches. I am eagerly anticipating the final volume but I don't want it to be over.  The Impending Blindness of Billie Scott by Zoe Thorogood One of the last graphic novels I read this year and the one that has the second amount of hype, The Impending Blindness of Billie Scott also leaves a lasting impression. I love a good Briti

All thoughts are my own. * Title: The Great Godden  Author: Meg Rossoff Publisher: Bloomsbury  Source: NetGalley ( Bookshop UK |  Hive |  Goodreads  |  Storygraph ) Book Summary: Everyone talks about falling in love like it’s the most miraculous, life-changing thing in the world. Something happens, they say, and you know … That’s what happened when I met Kit Godden. I looked into his eyes and I knew. Only everyone else knew too. Everyone else felt exactly the same way. This is the story of one family, one dreamy summer – the summer when everything changes. In a holiday house by the sea, our watchful narrator sees everything, including many things they shouldn’t, as their brother and sisters, parents and older cousins fill hot days with wine and games and planning a wedding. Enter two brothers – irresistible, charming, languidly sexy Kit and surly, silent Hugo. Suddenly there’s
