  About Amy Hello, I'm Amy, an aspiring motorsports writer and former blogger.  If you dig deeper enough, you find some very old blog posts, as this started as a book blog, but that's really where I got my start in writing: book reviews, hot book topics and as well as the odd personal essay.  After leaving university, I left the book blog behind, but continued writing and going in the world of social media, writing film reviews and promoting queer cinema, but after a tragic event in my personal life, I quickly discovered Motorsports.  What started as a love for Formula 1, while finally watching the Formula 1 film, Rush, and discovering Formula 1 TikTok, this love soon expanded to everything Formula E, IndyCar, Formula 2, Formula 3, as well as F1 Academy.  I soon found the itch to write come back, with the fast-moving news of motorsport, to the drama, the competition, and the journey of drivers trying to find a race seat. Mini Reviews #6: Poetry

Book Review:

 I had heard so many good things about this book and as I have been getting into poetry I wanted to give this ago. I did like bone but I feel like it could have been better and I didn't connect with personally. 

 This collection combined poetry and prose linking to Yrsa's experiences. It is tender and cuts to the bone. There were definitely elements and pieces that I did enjoy did there were others that I didn't really connect with and I think that is what makes or breaks poetry collections for me. I would still love to read more of Daley-Ward's work and know that other people are going to really love this while I only enjoyed some of it. 

 The Verdict:
bone is interesting and important that everyone should read as they might connect with this more than I did.

Book Review:

 Wild Embers was a book that if I am honest I attracted by the cover let's face it, it's beautiful. But I didn't expect the inside to be as beautiful. Wild Embers was a beautiful poetry read that is such an important read for today.

 Nikita Gill links to other poetry at the time often speaking about beauty, relationships but these often have an out of world feel that translates so wonderfully on the page. Gill is such a great writer and I think that I did connect to this on a deeper level than say bone which I just mentioned. I feel like this is a book that I connected to on an emotional level and I will come back to in years to come. It is a must read. 

 The Verdict:

 Wild Embers is an important poetry book in the vain of Milk and Honey and should be read by everyone.

Book Review:

 Pardon, My Heart was a read that I heard nothing about but I saw it on NetGalley and decided that I would give it a go. It is a story that details African American life and is therefore really important poetry collection. 

 I have to admit that I didn't get what I should of from this book. I feel like I read it too quickly and wish that I had taken it in more as I feel like this would have been so important. I think that it was so well written but I definitely want to reread it so I can get more from it on a reread.   

 The Verdict:
Pardon My Heart is an important read and is a great poetry read.

Book Review:

 She Must Be Mad has been getting more buzz from people including one of my favourite YA authors, Holly Bourne. I was therefore excited to read it especially as she has been compared to Carol Ann Duffy who I have enjoyed in the past. She Must Be Mad is a great read for anyone and everyone. 

 I really enjoy that Charly Cox dealt with her own mental health in the book. This was something that I haven't really read in poetry and prose like this before. I again think that Cox is a good writer and conveys her emotions really well. I also connected to her story and poetry a lot, especially in her social media. The way that she also dealt with mental health and overcoming this was great. I read must of this in one sitting before YALC and I now am anxious to get my own copy so I can reread it and get more people to love it as much as I do. 

 The Verdict:

 She Must be Mad mixes poetry and prose for a wonderful book that is so important in the age of social media.

Relighting My Fire (Part 1/3)

*This was written in October and is a series of three blog posts that I am publishing together. The thoughts in these blog posts may not affect how I am feeling now and it is safe to say that I do feel mentally better than I once did.* To be honest, this is the first time I've truly written something in months. Dealing with Embarrassing Moments

Having anxiety doesn't lend itself to embarrassing moments. Instead of saying fuck it and moving on, our mind decides to let the memories stay and linger. Replaying themselves again. And again. And again until we start to go a little crazy. Today has been that day. First there was the answer that I couldn't give in class. Then the fact that I accidentally fell into a couple of people on the tube. At rush hour. There have been some good things. I met Hank Green and didn't make a complete fool of myself and this was because a nice guy from Waterstones gave me the correct raffle ticket. (THANK YOU!)
